Use the identified 27th-edition Practice Test 1 for its 1–5 worksheet estimate, or combine other practice on the weighted scale. Both use nine-point long responses and four-point short responses.

1–5 estimates are limited to the exact supported practice test. Other or mixed practice uses weighted points out of 100.

The 1–5 estimate supports only the identified Princeton Review 27th edition · Practice Test 1, ISBN 9780593517574. Other practice uses weighted points only.

Use the current 34-point FRQ format

The current AP Biology course and exam description, effective fall 2025, lists 60 multiple-choice questions, two nine-point long free responses and four four-point short free responses. That is 34 FRQ points, not 36. Multiple choice and free response each contribute 50%. The May 2027 exam uses hybrid digital delivery with handwritten free responses.

50%Free response34 available raw points

We pool the 34 available FRQ points and scale them to 50 weighted practice points. This is an explicit practice-normalization assumption, not a claim about College Board’s operational exam-form scoring. Do not enter an older ten-point long response without using its own matching scoring materials.

How the calculation works

Enter whole-number points from a complete practice exam scored with the matching rubrics. We convert each section to its published share of 100 practice points.

MCQ ÷ 60 × 50 + (FRQ 1 + FRQ 2 + FRQ 3 + FRQ 4 + FRQ 5 + FRQ 6) ÷ 34 × 50

Calculation model: weighted-practice-v1. Values keep full precision during calculation; the result and contributions are displayed to one decimal place. The optional worksheet estimate is calculated separately below.

With 44 correct MCQs and FRQ scores of 6, 7, 3, 3, 2 and 3, you earned 24 of 34 FRQ points. The two contributions are about 36.7 and 35.3, giving 72.0 weighted practice points after rounding the unrounded total once.

How the practice AP estimate works

Princeton Review, AP Biology Premium Prep, 27th edition, How to Score Practice Test 1, printed p. 35. ISBN 9780593517574. Use only this 27th-edition Practice Test 1. Matching raw-point limits alone do not identify a test. Select Other / mixed practice if your test does not match. These bands are not official May 2027 cutoffs.

MCQ × 0.57 + FRQ 1 + FRQ 2 + FRQ 3 + FRQ 4 + FRQ 5 + FRQ 6

Keep the printed multipliers and every intermediate decimal. Round only the final sum to the nearest whole number, then use the matching band below. ScoreDino rounds an exact .5 tie upward. Self-scored free responses can change the estimate.

Multiple choice: 44 × 0.57

Free-response total: 24 × 1

The unrounded sum is 49.08. Rounded once, that is 49 / 68, giving a practice estimate of 4 for this test.

Use the printed multiplier 0.57, not 34/60. The maximum unrounded result is 68.2; final rounding gives 68.

The /68 worksheet result is separate from the /100 weighted practice result. Do not apply these score bands to weighted points.

Turn the breakdown into a next step

Check the year before scoring

Start with the point limits on your practice question. The current long responses have nine available points. A ten-point older response belongs to a different rubric; entering nine just because this field stops there would hide the mismatch.

Make the data do work

When a question asks for an explanation or prediction, connect the observed pattern to a biological process. Label graphs and variables carefully, and use the scoring guideline to distinguish a correct observation from the reasoning needed for another point.

Practice one repeatable skill

Choose an experimental-design, data-analysis or explanation skill from your missed FRQ points. In this pooled practice model, one extra FRQ point adds about 1.5 weighted points; one extra MCQ adds about 0.8. Neither figure predicts how easy a point will be to earn.

Compare your work with the official scoring guidelines and sample responses. Self-scoring uncertainty affects the result; a teacher’s feedback can help you check the rubric points you entered.

AP Biology calculator questions

Why do some Biology calculators allow 10 points on long FRQs?

They may use an older rubric. College Board’s current exam page and course and exam description list nine points for each long response. This page follows that current 34-point free-response format.

Can I enter a 2024 or 2025 released FRQ score here?

Only if the question’s own maxima match this model. Older released Biology sets can use ten-point long questions and a 36-point total. Use their matching scoring materials instead of squeezing those results into current nine-point inputs.

Is 72 weighted points a passing AP Biology score?

A weighted percentage alone does not establish an AP score. For the identified Princeton Review 27th-edition Practice Test 1 (ISBN 9780593517574), select its separate /68 worksheet model. Its estimate applies only to that practice test and is not an official exam result.

Does this result guarantee college credit?

No. This practice calculation cannot establish an official AP score or a college’s credit decision. Check your college and course through College Board’s AP Credit Policy Search.
