AP Statistics Score Calculator

The 2027 exam changed both the multiple-choice count and free-response structure. A score entered out of 40 MCQs or six old FRQs belongs to a different form.

Choose your test form, enter rubric points, and see the calculation. The named historical or publisher mode includes its exact 1–5 conversion; the 2027 mode shows a weighted practice composite.

Calculate your result

Applies the published section weights to practice points. This mode returns a weighted practice composite, not a predicted AP 1–5 grade.

Match your practice to the exam format

The 2027 exam changed both the multiple-choice count and free-response structure. A score entered out of 40 MCQs or six old FRQs belongs to a different form.

How the calculation works

Start with raw points awarded by the matching answer key and rubric. Convert each component to its share of the published total. Keep the full calculation precision until the final displayed result.

50mcq/42 + 50(q1+q2+q3+q4)/40

  • 2027 replaces 40 MCQ and six FRQ with 42 MCQ and four 10-point FRQ.

Check the worked example

The example gives 65.8333/100 before display rounding. It does not establish an AP 1–5 result; a score conversion requires a matched test form and conversion table.

Use the result to choose your next practice

Compare where your unearned raw points occur before choosing a review task. A lower written contribution can point to missing rubric evidence, while a lower MCQ contribution can come from knowledge gaps, misreading or pacing. The total alone cannot identify the cause.

Re-score one missed written response against its actual rubric, name the missing claim or calculation, and redo that part without looking. Then take a new matched practice set to check whether the correction transfers.

What a practice composite can tell you

The weighted value describes performance on the questions you entered. Different forms can have different difficulty and different raw-to-AP conversions. A score distribution says how many students received each grade; it does not reveal the raw cutoff for your test.

Only a mode that names a supported practice form uses its published 1–5 conversion. Match the form, question maxima and scoring rules before using that result.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few things to know

Why does the 2012 mode ask for 39 MCQ points?

The published worksheet excludes item 14 from scoring even though 40 questions were administered. Count only the 39 scored items; the calculator preserves the printed 1.2820 multiplier.

Is this an official College Board score calculator?

No. This is an independent practice tool. Official sources establish the format and any specifically identified released-form rules; the tool does not assign an official AP score.

Should I enter percentages or raw points?

Enter the raw integer counts requested by each field. Use the answer key for MCQ and the specific scoring rubric for written responses. A classroom percentage cannot safely replace a rubric score without knowing its denominator.

Can a historical conversion predict my 2027 grade?

A historical form score can help you interpret that exact practice exam. It is not a validated forecast for a different form or a changed exam. Keep the model name with any saved result.
